What is double click speed?

Double click speed measures the time in milliseconds between two consecutive clicks. A fast double click is useful for many actions in games and applications. As a rough guide, a deliberate double click by hand usually lands somewhere around 100-200 ms. Extremely short intervals, in the tens of milliseconds, can be a sign of a worn switch registering one press as two (a ghost double click), so if you see them without trying, test the button more closely.

Tips about double clicking

  • An interval of 100-200 ms is ideal for most applications
  • If you see double clicks in the tens of milliseconds when you only pressed once, the switch may be worn or faulty
  • You can adjust the double click speed in your operating system settings
