Colour is the only thing Respawn lets you touch, and here is why

Apex Legends is the odd one out among modern shooters. You can open the reticle menu, drag three sliders and that is about it: the game lets you change the crosshair colour and nothing else. Shape, size, thickness and centre gap all come from the weapon and the optic you have equipped, and no menu anywhere changes them.

This guide tells you exactly what you can touch, where the menu lives and which exceptions the colour setting has, so you do not waste half an hour hunting for a reticle editor that does not exist or an import code Respawn never shipped. If you are coming from Valorant or CS2, brace yourself for a change of mindset.

What can you actually customise?

Here is the part almost no site says out loud: Apex Legends is the exception among shooters. It has no real crosshair customisation, only colour. There is no shape editor, no thickness slider, no centre gap control and no importable or exportable code of any kind. Shape, size, thickness and gap are dictated by the weapon and the optic you carry, and none of those are adjustable in the settings. On top of that, colour is a global setting: it applies to every weapon at once, so per-weapon colours are impossible. There are three confirmed exceptions where your chosen colour simply is not applied: the Digital Threat 1x optic, the Digital Threat 4x-10x and Seer's Heart Sensor keep their original look. Everything else does take the colour, including iron sights and the Bocek bow.

Settings available in the menu

The list is short because the Apex menu is short. These are the only controls that exist and what each one does. We do not publish numeric ranges because Respawn does not document the slider values anywhere.

How to change your crosshair colour

Open the main menu and go into Settings.
Move to the Gameplay tab and find the Reticle section.
Open Customise: you will see the colour presets and the three RGB sliders.
Pick a preset or drag the sliders by hand, confirm and back out. The change saves itself and applies to every weapon.

Tips for picking a colour that works

Test the colour in the Firing Range before you queue. It is the fastest way to see how it reads on iron sights, on a reflex and through a magnified scope.
Avoid colours that blend into the maps you play most. White disappears against the sky and against the pale buildings on World's Edge.
Heavily saturated colours that do not occur naturally in Apex (magenta, cyan, acid green) are the ones that survive a fight full of visual effects.
Remember it is global: you cannot run one colour for sniping and another for SMGs, so choose something that holds up at every range.
Do not count on the colour showing up on Digital Threat optics or Seer's Heart Sensor. If you use those a lot, get used to their stock look.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a crosshair code for Apex Legends?

No. Apex has no reticle import or export system at all. Any site offering you an Apex crosshair code is confusing the game with Valorant, CS2 or Marvel Rivals.

Can I change the size or thickness of the crosshair?

No. Size, thickness, shape and centre gap are all determined by the weapon and the equipped optic, and no setting modifies them.

Why is my colour not applied on some optics?

There are three confirmed exceptions: the Digital Threat 1x, the Digital Threat 4x-10x and Seer's Heart Sensor ignore the custom colour and keep their original appearance.

Can I set a different colour per weapon?

No. Reticle colour is a global setting. It applies to every weapon in the game at once, including iron sights and the Bocek bow.
